My 6 most anticipated movies of the fall season
September, October, November, and December… the last third of the movie calendar… usually delivers the best offerings of the year. And this year is no exception. Three movies have me eagerly awaiting … one each in October, November, and December… as if the schedulers knew what they were doing. There are big budget movies, big name directors, and big name actors & actresses. Please read my thoughts then follow links to trailers for previews of these movies!
1. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” – the 7th movie in the franchise, follows the events of the 1983 movie “Return of the Jedi”… 30 years later with heroes Han, Luke, Leia, and Chewbacca still trying to keep the peace in the galaxy along with new heroes against some familiar looking villians
Release Date: December 18th
Director: J.J. Abrams

2. “Spectre” – Daniel Craig’s 4th Bond movie (the 24th in the franchise) follows the events of the great “Skyfall” (2012)

3. “The Martian” – an astronaut is left behind on Mars presumed dead, he must find a way to survive, when and if a rescue mission can get to him… adapted from the novel by the same name, this is my most anticipated non-sequel of the year! This looks to be the space drama we hoped “Interstellar” would have been (ironically Damon and Chastain were both in that movie too).

4. “Everest” – inspired by real life events in 1996 to groups of climbers on expeditions to the top of Mount Everest
Release Date: September 25th

5. “Bridge of Spies” – Set in the events of the cold war between the USA and the Soviet Union, a lawyer is recruited by the CIA to negotiate the release of a spy captured by the russians
Release Date: October 16th
Director: Steven Spielberg

6. “Concussion” – dramatic thriller based on the true story of Dr. Bennet Omalu who made the first discovery of football related brain trauma
Release Date: December 25th
